The grandfather clock is known to be one of the oldest types of clocks there is. The typical grandfather clock stands about 7-8 ft. tall and is a clock case that is generally built out of wood. Similar to the grandfather clock are the grandmother clock which is about 6 ft. in height, and the granddaughter clock which is 5 ft. tall. Grandfather clocks are enclosed in their case which looks much like a display case for figurines. This type of clock has been in existence for over 200 years. Many people like to buy grandfather clocks to top off other decorative items in their homes.

The pocket watch existed before the wrist watch. It is generally found in gold or silver plate shell that opens up like a compact mirror and it displays the time. For the most part a chain is attached to it, but there are some that do not have chains attached.
